This post was made on the LHC boards regarding the problem of a new host being created on every connect.

Just interested in your comments on the matter.

There is a strange bug on LHC causing a new host to be created on each scheduler request. More details on LHC forum, "New computer database entry created on each connect". LHC servers are affected by this, since there are 2 million host entries. Also, this is one of the reasons why there are no stats being generated; the host XML export would be more than twice the size of SETI one!

Read on How to stop getting copies of the same computer. Please do this as soon as possible - the more people who clean up this bug, the better for all of us.

This is not a new thing, it was discussed way back when Pirates was reincarnated. Take a look at this thread. It has a link to the thead over at Pirates.

In the end it turned out to be a bug in the BOINC server code, fueled by BAM! (just like the banner says ).

This should be solved when the LHC server code is updated, which I guess will be in Januari.
