Which project to you think has the best screen saver and why?

Einstein@home's screen saver is the best I've seen. It's garnered interested from several people that wanted me to install it on their PCs and is a good representation of what is actually happening with the project's WU. It'd be nice if it showed a key for newbies and I wish it would run on all machines, but I still consider it the best of what I've seen.

Screen savers in and of themselves aren't important to me, but they serve as a sort of advertisement for the project and distributive computing in general and in that way are important to the overall BOINC mission.

What other screen savers are aesthetically pleasing while representing the science of the project?

LHC is definitely one of this IMHO.
And the 3D brain of the new project MindModeling, too.
Followed by QMC and SETI in my ranking.

Well, I don't use the screen savers (why waste processing power!), but I do preview them (via Show Graphics) in Boinc manager and LHC has to be the best.

Actually, I don't even have a screen, keyboard or mouse on my new host, so a screen saver would be rather pointless

I don't run screensavers, but sometimes I look at the graphics. I think RCN has absolutely the best screen saver, but i might be slightly biased (I made it). I must say LHC is very nice, too bad it doesn't show any actual science.

RCN looks really nice.

I'm also only using the 'show graphics' option, btw.
And I forgot to mention Pirates@Home: the "starboard XS" graphics is nice, too (I still like the well-known Matrix effect... )

a fan of the QMC projects screensaver with the dancing electrons.

Although other favourites include Einstein and SETI, I agree with Dennis Shows - the more interesting units are the ones that show what the WU is upto!

Anyone with a CPDN climate model can open the graphics window and press Z then 8 on the keyboard to remove the overlay and see more details eg timesteps to next checkpoint. Pressing T, P and R show different aspects of the developing weather systems. H opens the whole display menu giving more options.

Not a good idea to leave the climate graphics or screensaver on all the time though because these dynamic displays definitely slow the crunching.
