Hello everybody ... I have the same problem ... Have you any idea ?
I see somewhere that in this sort of problem on teams it is the first teams who is right ...
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams/
"In case of disputes over team names, whoever created the team first (on some BOINC project) has rights to it. Contact David Anderson to resolve such disputes."
Can it be uses for UserID ?
Regards.
As far as username goes, with the exception of WCG none of the projects I know require the username to be unique. Meaning there is no problem having dozens of say Gregg's. Users are differentiated by their e-mail address.
Now for WCG, the username is unique, meaning if someone has already signed up with a username, nobody else can (similar to the policy on team names). So, if you absolutely need to have a specific username on WCG and it is already taken, then you can try to contact the administrators. I doubt that they will give the name to you, but you can try.
Now, as for adding WCG to a BAM account when WCG forced you to use a different user name... Either make the BAM username the same as the WCG username (I believe requires changing username at all other projects as well), or request that Willy add functionality that allows a separate username be entered for WCG, since it currently the only one that insists on unique username, but that would be in a different forum.
Now before you knock WCG for requiring unique usernames, be aware that they did not start as a BOINC project, but as their own project with their own software and have only recently gone completely BOINC. There are a number of features of BOINC that they do not completely implement, but now that they are completely BOINC maybe their user base and get them to change some.
This signature was stolen from somewhere.
