I received a Seti Astropulse Wu on my PS3 earlier today, it started out saying it would take about 725 hours to completion ... ... But that has come down some already now that it's been Processing for about 4 hours already. From what I read about them on a PS3 they take about 6 Days or 140-150 hours to run on the PS3 & supposedly pay about 70 Credits Per Hour. We'll see I guess in 6 days or so.

I didn't even know if I had Attached to the SETI Project right to try & get the Astropulse Wu's but receiving 1 confirmed I did, I Attached the PS3 to the SIMAP Project too but haven't received anything from them yet, I'm not getting any error messages from the Project & it's calling for work so I'm assuming I Attached to that Project the right way too ...

SIMAP is currently out of work, so you won't receive any WUs from there.

The completion counter often shows not the excatly values if you install a new application. Could you please try to calculate the completion time manualy by the current CPU time/current progress.
Do you use the powerpc64-ps3-linux application ? - This is the right Astropulse application.

@ XJR, I figured that already and thought I'd have to wait until the 1'st of October to get some, but I left it calling for work because there might be some resends it could pick up in the mean time ... Also the Simap Project won't even call for work right now because it's running the Austropulse Wu to the end I guess, it doesn't even switch with the Yoyo Wu thats waiting to run right now.

@ Dotsch, it looks like about 150-160 hr's to completion if the Wu is Linear which so far it appears to be, I'm using the Client you download from the PS3Grid Site, I just checked & the Application & Client are both named the powerpc64-ps3-linux gnu & app ...

PS: I just checked the Wu again and it loks like it will hit the 20% Mark @ 30 Hr's, so this is Linear with it hitting the 10% Mark when it was @ 15 hr's & would put it on course for about a 150 hour run to completion ...

I have one here, with 18% complete in 24 hrs; I read that it needs some particular files, I presume those files have been dl when the wu arrives on my computer ?

hope it will not crash in course...

I have to put on hold all the other projects to respect the deadline, I like the science about those new wus but the deadline is very too short, ; Seti should give a more longer gap to crunch those wus

it tooks almost 129 hours to complete, put a hold on Seti until they give a better gap to finish it...

Martin,
You can choose which type of WU's you get from SETI@Home. Just go to the SETI site, and modify your SETI preferences to not get any AstroPulse work units. That way, you'll get only the "older" MB WUs and shouldn't have a problem with deadlines.

Also, it is possible to download an "optimized" application for SETI. This is not done automatically, and you can check the SETI forums to see what is required.
