Users are encouraged to link their accounts from the subprojects into the CSG account.

Yeah, but i think that projects should be merged into CSG also in Boinc Stats. What does the users think about that?

I do not run any of the named projects but as a long time BOINC user that would make the most logical sense.
One project = One Stats Export regardless of how many sub-project.
Example: PrimeGrid has many sub-projects and includes in their stats the points of their external "sister"/sub-project PRPnet.

I was looking this mornig about the server status for CSG and i found 4 servers, 1 for each subproject and 1 for the CSG. DNA@home Server Status, Wildlife@home Server Status, SubsetSum@home Server Status and also Citizen Science Grid Server Status. The subproject servers are online but with its applications disabled, while the CSG server has its applications working. The question is... Why do they have a server online for each subproject if they already have a server that works with all them

It are all subdirectories on the same server named Volunteer with the IP 134.129.213.31.

Well, I think with this all questions are solved, we just need to wait until CSG starts xml exporting and we can merge the subprojects. If somebody have any question more can post it here.

Because they were originally separate projects from the same university. They were just recently merged into the "Citizen Science Grid" and the old servers will be retired once the transition is complete.

After joining the new CSG project, the ancient users of the 3 old projects must go to this address http://volunteer.cs.und.edu/csg/link_accounts.php to link their old projects accounts to news account on CSG... even, as I, if you only use one of the 3 old projects.

And now, we're waiting to Boincstats to only use the CSG stats !

Ehrr, frankly said: That's impossible, as CSG stats incorporates the old scores of three other projects and so is granting you a higher total score than you have actually crunched. The CSG stats should be taken MINUS the old score(s) for the three projects.

Another soluition is to brake down the CSG stats into the scores for the old projects and add the credit to DNA@HOme, Wildlife@Home or SubsumSet@Home.

Make that break down instead of brake down

DNA@HOme, Wildlife@Home and SubsumSet@Home will be retired and removed from the combined stats. On the same day Citizen Science Grid will be added and included in the combined stats.

That is, if my new code is Murphy proof.

In such cases when projects are merged together, would it make sense to automatically try to find the account and, if it was found, to sign up automatically and attach the hosts previously attached to any of the merged projects?

TIA.

That depends: how many times is this going to happen and is it worth my time? So far, this only happened once (and in my humble opinion this should never happen) so I deem that not worth it.

In my opinion the CSG subprojects should not appear in the list of finished projects, because they aren't finished. Credits now appear two times.

No, they don't. Compare your scores in BOINCSTats to those in FreeDC. In FreeDC they *DO* appear two times at the moment, Willy has subtracted the points from the 'finished projects' from your total.

You're wrong, because counting together the finished projects is just the same as my credits at CSG!
The intention of CSG is to merge the projects (and the credits) and not to finish something!!!
Btw. there's no subproject of e.g. WCG, Primegrid, etc. listed in the finished projects.

My combined score in FreeDC: 388,778,607
My combined score in BOINCStats: 388,444,608
Difference: 333,999

My score for SubsetSum: 311,284
My score for DNA 22,621
Total 333,905

Nor have the subprojects of WCG, PrimeGrid, etc. ever existed as separate projects. The subprojects of CSG have, and not everyone has transferred his/her account over to CSG.
It is therefore nice to have a page where you can view/compare the old scores. Willy has taken care of the points, they only count once for your combined total.

And now let's hope nobody at CERN comes with the briljant idea to bring all their projects under a common umbrella....

Before noting subprojects as finished:

My_combined_stats = My_projects + My_finished_projects

That's not equal with the present statistics:

My_combined_stats = My_projects + My_finished_projects - SubsetSum - DNA - Wildlife !!!

I like the seperate subproject list in FreeDC - there it makes sense to mark projects as finished or not, because it doesn't affect the main stats.

P.S. We should mail your brilliant idea about merging the CERN stats to their admins.

I think you boys are a little late to the CERN party... http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/forum_thread.php?id=3848&postid=26608#26608

Please note that this is a very early prototype, currently in its alpha test stage.

We plan to unify the ATLAS site with T4T (and eventually other CERN LHC BOINC projects) when it's passed successfully through alpha and beta testing.

Ben
