Hrm, nobody has dropped a note on the new POGS BETA project: Sourcefinder

Sourcefinder is about testing the performance and quality of the Duchamp Sourcefinding application. We've built a simulated cube of the sky containing various radio sources, and it's the job of Duchamp to work out where the sources are. We plan on running Duchamp over the whole cube of simulated data to work how many of the radio sources in the cube it can find. Duchamp will need to be able to identify correct sources while keeping false positives to a minimum.



Note: This BETA project is separate from Skynet POGS

Well to my understanding it isn't a POGS BETA but rather theskynet's BETA for SourceFinder. The difference is that POGS was the second DC project they came up with and not the first. SourceFinder was their first and they discontinued it for a few years as they worked on the new version.

Yep, Skynet not POGS technically. I always get the two mixed up. But a lot of folks do it call it POGS.

They released the first batch of work last night under the relaunch (seems the admin accidently hit the equivalent of the big red button and wiped out the first server).

Well, it may could be added to BAM, but the project has no stats (yet), so there's currently no sense to add it to BS...

Hmmm... http://54.196.169.236/duchamp/top_users.php and http://54.196.169.236/duchamp/top_hosts.php show credits given out. It is not exporting the user/host/team XMLs, yet?

Exactly - the stats directory as I posted is empty.

Sorry, my aging eyes couldn't see the blue font next to the black font against the RGB(240,240,255) background...

Willy will not add Duchamp to the stats until the project admin has given their permission.

It's an open project. Nice news item on the SkyNet POGS page asking for volunteers... well, 2 news items actually, heh. There's just nothing TO add.


I did send a note to Sam there about exporting the stats but sofar, nothing yet but it might not be a high priority ATM after having nuked the first server.

In short: Owner Sam needs to tell Willy to add the project here once he is ready to accept the many peoplehitting his server resulting from being listed here, and also needs to make sure that the stat XMLs are dropped properly. They weren't, first. Then they were. But now they are not getting updated properly, which Sam will look into.

He's doing POGS AND Sourcefinder... so, unless someone can clone him or give him a second head...

It's a bit of a moot point given it's listed on the main POGS site and mentioned at a few other sites at least (including here). Will adding it really add that many folks?

Incidentally, the original issue wasn't they weren't working, they weren't turned on.
