Unfortunatly still

But here:

you can read this:

What is PS3GRID.NET?
The ps3grid.net project is a distributed computing initiative based on the use of the PlayStation3 for biomolecular simulations using a full-atom molecular dynamics code (CellMD) optimized to run on the Cell processor which is also the processor of the PS3.

With your PlayStation3, you can participate to scientific research by allowing your PS3 to run molecular simulations while not used for playing. If you like science and are happy to contribute to it, think that this technology could be disruptive for computational biology and also have important societal implications.

This is why your participation is very important because with our optmized software for the Cell processor your PS3 is equivalent to approximatevely 20 PCs. For example, if 100 people join this cooperative effort we will be able to use the equivalent of 1000 dual-core computers.

For more information or if you need to contact us write to Gianni De Fabritiis (ps3grid@gmail.com) at the Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics Laboratory in the Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRI-IMIM/UPF. Our lab is located within the new Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRB.

I hope they will be as succesfull as with folding.

I've been watching that site for a while now.

The first difference that won't make it as sucessfull as folding is the fact that you need to install Linux on the PS3 for the boinc client they provide. Folding was able to make a PS3 formatted application to lauch from the game menu which will make it easier to run.

That's because they got agreements with Sony for it to be included as part of the PS3 software update.

A volunteer has ported the SETI application to Linux on PS3. Please look at this thread : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=39910

SIMAP has binaries for both applications (SIMAP and HMMER) available for PS3 on Linux, too.
