The server crashed and after almost 6 months without updates, it seems to me to be virtually dead and should probably be retired, IMO.

I have to agree with Augustine. It's dead. Put it out to pasture with the other expired projects for a permanent resting place.
Not even a comment from the project owner/admin Tobias Schultz in the forums (comment #2311) at Seti Germany since March 28, 2013.

On Sunday, April 7, a database server crash resulted in an unexpected downtime of our servers. We are in contact with our server donors and are trying to find a solution and recover the data. In the meantime, there is unfortunately no way to access Freehal@home in any way.
