They apparently dumped a bunch of users (noting that WCG only has 186 users, now). Probable database screwup.

Lee calm. These are the side effects of a major update. We've seen it before. It usually corrects itself.

when using Free-DC instead of Boinc, everything looks normal

BOINC 8.2.4. seems reliable. Haven't observed any irregularities of any kind on Win 10/11.
