Greetings Fellow Crunchers,

I'm considering getting a basic laptop to have on hand for traveling, or when I don't feel like getting up from the couch, and...well, for BOINCing, of course. In order to save a bit of money, I'm looking at outlet versions of 3- and 4-core AMD Phenom IIs; however, I have no experience running any AMD machine. Does anybody know how these perform in laptop form? Are they up to the task of crunching 24/7? I guess it depends on how the entire chassis is built, but I'm most concerned about heat. Any other worries?

Thanks for your feedback..

Hi Mark,
Just noted the following Consumer Reports forums: http://forums.consumerreports.org/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=cr-computer01.
I am a fairly loyal HP fan and do not have much experience in laptop selection myself.
Good luck with your search.
