Just recently I was discussing this with a co-worker. If you look at the Folding@Home stats (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=osstats), the total throughput of their project is currently about 70% PS3-crunched data. I have read that, since you can install Linux on the PS3, and most Beowulf systems are designed for Linux, it is only a matter of time before people start using clustered PS3's for certain FP-heavy computations. ("Beo-station"? "Play-wulf"?)
