Hi.

First of all thanks for BAM. Very excited to be able to use this service. Now, the problem. I don't get any statistics. I'm fairly certain that this is because my CPID doesn't show on my account. I looked around and couldn't find a way to manually enter my CPID. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Well, if you've read the info boxes you would know that is bad

BAM can only find your project accounts if BAM has the exact same email address and password.

Is this always going to be the case? I use the same email address on every project so my CPID are sync'd, but I use a different password on every project and I think I'd prefer to not change that.

The point of BAM is to simplify things, by bringing in all these multiple password for projects it just starts to over complicate a simple idea. Maybe Willy will amend BAM at some point to accommodate this?

The quick answer what worked for me the last time I nedded it to hurry up was crunch work for every project you have an account on, it soon lined up the CPID to the correct one on all.

Don't know of other ways

Yes, that would be a way. Unfortunately I see that BAM has taken the cpid that is assigned by cpdn. It seems like an awful waste to just download a cpdn model, let it synchronize id's and then discard it again.

I admit it is my fault attaching to projects I don't intend to run (for now), but meanwhile I am stuck with this cpid problem. How to solve it in an elegant way?

Is there not a option in BAM to make it cnahge its CPID and all the other projects its on the main page I think or have I made that one up?

Yes, there is a 'Renew' cpid function. I have tried it a number of times, but it doesn't change anything. I guess for some reason it keeps on using the cpid it sees in cpdn

EDIT: What might work is that I try to attach a host to cpdn, but in such a way that it doesn't d/l any work. Does anyone know a way to do that?

Set your resource share to 0

Willy -

That would be great, but the system removes any default attachments when the resource share is set to 0...

Any ideas?

Well, I have some good and some bad news.

I tried setting resource share to 0. I couldn't do that on the project websites. If you enter 0 there, the Boinc web interface assumes you meant 100 The only solution I see is a manual update of the cpid stored by BAM.

I have good hope I can finally stop bugging you all with this problem

cpdn has finally synchronized its cpid. To do this I had to attach the host that now has a cpdn WU to a project to which I am subscribed longer than to cpdn (this makes sense in the cpid logic, right?) BAM is not yet aware of this new cpid, but I suppose now it's just a matter of time.

This was all a bit cumbersome. And only on the boundary related to BAM. Still, for BAM this could give rise to a few suggestions:
* In determining the cpid of a member, BAM should ignore projects (or only consider if there are no others) for which no credits are earned yet. Chances are that such projects have not yet been able to synchronize the cpid.
* I know that is pretty risky, but why not let the BAM member enter the correct cpid in case for some reason it does get wrong?

Here's my question. The cpid that BAM has, isn't being used by any of the projects I'm signed up for... All but 3 projects are using the same cpid, and none of them are even 'close' to the cpid that BAM has listed...

Any ideas?

Have just read through this entire thread (ok, so it isn't that long...) and noticed that no-one ever seemed to answer this original question; which is the exact same one as I have.

I initially had "BamBam"'s CPID (like many others I gather) and Willy nuked this for me, but now I have no CPID at all - and it has been like this for a week.

I have tried the renew option and neither that nor a week of settling have solved the issue. Any other ideas out there?

Cheers,
MacDitch

Yep. All are processing on one machine, and various combinations elsewhere. The 'master' machine has connected to each project at least a couple of times since I ...lost?... my CPID

Yep. BoincStats shows them fine, and has done for an age, but for some reason BAM isn't picking up the CPID.

After giving it a few days, I can now confirm too. All my projects definitely have the same cpid now, but bam does not adapt the id it has stored. The 'renew' option has no effect.

Fixed this problem. There are still a lot of members without CPID now, but they don't have any projects attached to their BAM account.
