Which projects are these? When I last checked it, 0.1 was the lowest possible value in all of them...

Yes. thats the design bug ... I use 0.000001 for venue school ...
On this venue I crunch TANPAKU & Xtremlab ...

The worst
was that this value 0.1 messed *all* preferences I had on every project website,
and I had to visit afterwards, *one by one* to fix

The network and resource share satay as they are (for now): within the specs defined by the BOINC team.

We tried to convince the BOINC team to allow BAM to set preferences per host, but so far, they did not implement it. I also don't think it will be implemented in any 5.4.x client, so that will be 5.6 in (at the earliest) 6 months.

I credit u are right -> However whats wrong is u webpage to add/edit preferences,
not allowing enough spaces to type in, as *all* projects I know do allow.

Taking SIMAP as example, I can type in, when editing my general proferences

Do work only after computer is idle for (5 spaces to type) minutes

Switch between applications every (5 spaces to type) minutes

Use no more than (7 spaces to type) Gbytes

Leave at least (7 spaces to type) Gbytes free

Use no more than (5 spaces to type) % of total disk space

Write to disk at most every (6 spaces to type) seconds

Use no more than (5 spaces to type) % of total virtual memory

Connect to network about every (5 spaces to type) days -> but accepts up to 10 digits
*A day has 86400 seconds, so to connect every second, one must type in 0.000001 (8 digits)
-or- may be type in 1E-5 that fits into the 5 spaces available to type

Maximum download rate: (7 spaces to type) Kbytes/sec

Maximum upload rate: (7 spaces to type) Kbytes/sec

Why u webpage only allows 3 spaces to type in into all above fields , is what I dont understand,
and what needs to be fixed , to be compatible with latest version of boinc web interface

Thanks

He's right on the connect every x days. I have mine set to 0.05. This is allowed by every project sites Preferences page, but BAM only allows x.y as a value. (One digit on each side of the decimal.) This is a major difference from what the project controls allow.

My workaround for now is to not set prefs via BAM. The existing prefs seem to be taking precedence as a result.

Changed the network connect time to allow for more decimals, that's a quick fix I could do without editing the database.

Many thanks for this "quick fix"

*my cpid at bam is different from my cpid not bam , so I get two different totals, for boinc combined stats

Thanks

I have already saved the following preferences
Venue
default: 2006-05-13 01:26:03
global: 2006-05-13 01:38:32
home: 2006-05-13 01:31:18
school: 2006-05-13 01:57:23
work: 2006-05-13 01:41:18

The bug here, is that the date/time of the Venue does not change at all,
even after a sucessfull change of some value data on that venue

First of all those times are the creation times of each venue and they will not change because this is just the name of the venue. And second those names of the prefs won't work with the BOINC Manager (as it says above in the blue box "Only Global preferences, home, work and school (in lower case!) are supported by the projects."

btw: the default preference name must be: default , global , or a no-name (empty name) preference ?

There was indeed a check I forgot to remove. It works now.

As for the pref-names: the name is the creation date, they do not change after editing the pref. The projects have no support for non-standard names, but tests show that they are send to the clients and that they are use as well.
