I use BOINC Manager 5.2.13 (German).
When running through "Projekte -> Kontoverwaltung ... etc." everything looks fine and the final message-box proudly announces "you're now connected to ...". But checking shows the URL of the account manager without username and the error message shown in the headline is listed in the messages, though logging in to this forum works which makes me believe that the account exists. Same error occurs with all machines! I tried all combinations of username, e-mail and available IDs I could think of, but still I can't attach any of my crunchers to BAM.

Anyone any tricky hint?

I don't know what "Kontoverwaltung" means, but maybe you are trying to attach BAM as a BOINC project...?

Nope, "Kontoverwaltung" is the German label for "account manager". Otherwise I wouldn't have got the mentioned English error message in the message window.

Also ich hab' zwar die englische Sprachversion vom boinc bei mir, aber es macht auch mir den Eindruck als versuchtest du BAM! wie ein Projekt anzumelden, was nicht geht.

Richtig gemacht schon. Trick ist, ich hatte 5.2.13(!) und nach dem Update auf 5.4.11 mußte ich noch die XML-Dateien von der gescheiterten Anmeldung löschen. Dann funzt das auch!

Cleared and solved: Version mismatch!

sure we can: it's as simple as you must have the proper client version as the client manager interface has obviously changed sometime between 5.2 and 5.4 (Step one!) when trying to connect with an older version a configuration is generated and written(!) as XML-files => "search and destroy" them, because finding these files will lock the "connect to manager" function and "updating" won't work with the 'antique' configuration (Step two!) Finally start BOINC, click connect and you're done (Step three :-)

As said, it's simple if you know that you have 'destroy' traces of your previous efforts to connect. But it can drive you 'nuts' because the application doesn't give you any hint that it's blocked by older (non-functional) config file. [Remember this on next update (c: ]
