See this screen snippet. I just took it while I was trying to look at my hosts on the Host List page sorted by the "Last Contacted BAM!" column. As you can see, the triangle in the column name claims it is sorted, yet it really isn't. This is running under IE 11.0.960.17690. I've seen this happen also when using my Windows Phone. However, using Chrome, it is sorted correctly. Seems sorting is a client side operation. Then, either IE is broken, or the code implementing that sorting on the client is not "universal" or "browser agnostic".

IE IS broken. Since the very first version and even though Microsoft claimed with every new version that they would be more compatible with HTML/Javascript standards that never happened. And now they give us yet another excuse for a browser (Spartan) to annoy us (web developers) with.

I have a simple rule: if it works in all the real browsers but not in IE then it's an IE problem and I only fix it when I have too much free time.

I've spend hours upon days upon weeks in my professional and private live fixing things just for IE and I have just about enough of it.

Sorry, that's years of frustration coming out.

Safe to say that fixing the IE sorting problem is not high on my list.

You ask, I deliver...

This is what we are doing with Spartan (the IE replacement): full compatibility with the modern Web, i.e., primarily Chrome (Webkit/Blink). I am personally leading that project. We have done something we had never done before and fixed literally thousands of differences with Chrome. At the moment, Spartan is only available on the pre-release versions of Windows 10. I can’t get a repro as I don’t have a account on BOINC, but if you or Willy can try in one of the upcoming pre-releases of Win10, that would be great. Or if you have a test account on BOINC, I will be happy to try the repro and debug if the problem still exist!

He is already debugging under Spartan using my BOINCstats account.

By the way, Christian, if you are reading this while debugging: Thank you!

I will have a few test systems at work with Win10 within one or two weeks. I'll test Spartan then.

OK, something weird is happening right now, just after you fixed the sorting on the WorkLeft in HostList page. Now the LastContactedBAM column doesn't sort anymore, not even on Chrome. I tried to sort it up & down, and both are wrong and the same!

And, just discovered that it is broken on iPad, running latest iOS, under both Safari and Chrome. Just sayin'.....

Don't own anything that has an Apple logo so can't test this.
