I have used "./aal" as my username since I started with the orig SAH way before BOINC. I have joined a few projects through BAM's interface with no issues.
I try to join WCG using the BAM site and am told no response from host.

So I create an account on their site but cannot use the same username.
BAM's "search for account" function returns "wrong password" and does not add WCG to the managed projects.

I have the same email and password used in all accounts, but WCG has a different username.

When BAM tries to locate an account does it search by user, or email?

I can add WCG to boinc manually, but BAM is unaware

I think that for all projects, except WCG, BAM! uses the email to find an account. In WCG it uses your User name.

Also keep in mind that WCG has a very different server side code from the other projects and that's why it has limited support of AMS function as described in here.

so since i cant use the same username for WCG as I used for my other projects I will never have it included in my stats?

No, not your stats, just in your BAM! account The stats recognition is based on the CPID which should be equal in WCG and your other projects if you used the same email

Because you used the same email in WCG your WCG stats should be added to your combined ones. But since WCG disallows the username you desire it won't be added in your BAM! account. But this is not a big loose (at least I don't think it is), because currently WCG supports only limited read-only AMS support. So most of the real good features of BAM! won't work

Yes, it should. BAM and BOINCstats don't control the different projects in WCG.

(WCG has multiple sub-projects, that can be selected or de-selected by the user. Sounds like he'ss getting work for projects that he opted not to participate in.)
