Hey all!

I just got BAM going and inadvertantly set had it set up a new SETI account with the common email addy. My SETI account is the only one with my old old old addy and don't want to start from scratch. Now when I sync with BAM, it wants to detach SETI.

How can I delete the SETI project from my BAM account? From what I read, I guess I can't havve it sync with a different addy, so not seeing is the only option, just can't see where to delete projects from my account.

Thanks

I think you have to make several steps:

(Disclaimer: I have to wait for Willys confirmation that it will succeed, I don't know how BAM! talks with the Projects, whether by CPID or by Email and password. I think it's the second possibility, and so it will work.)

1. Disconnect the puter from BAM!
2. Change the email from the new seti account to "me@there.com" or something similar useless
3. Change the email from the old Seti-account to your current one (without losing the classic connection now).
4. (now it's more or less educated guessing) Contact the projct from BAM! here by setting the ressources: http://de.boincstats.com/bam/resources.php (This should let the old account connect to BAM! here)
5. Attach your puter back to BAM!

As far as I know, account managers authenticate using the account key.

I think both Saenger and PvAddict are partially right When BAM! first searches for an account for a user it uses the email and password hash to check whether the user has an account. If the user has one the project returns its account key, and after that all communication with the project is based on that account key.

So in order to work you should also do the following steps:
1.1. Delete your BAM! account
4. Create a new BAM! account with the "good" email. ( this step is a replacement of Saenger's one )

THX guys, as I said, it was just educated guessing.

With PovAddicts hint I would subscribe to SonGokus solution.

Well Crap!! Deleted the old and created a new BAM account. Only problem, can't use my email address that 99% of the BOINC projects are set up with.

Now what?

Perhaps Willy has implemented some anti-spam or whatever measure to prvent the deletion and creation of accounts with the same email-addy in a too short time-span.

But I really don't have the faintest, this definitely is something for Willy to answer.
