Hi, I just installed Boinc for linux and I would like to know if I can attach it to BAM. Since I'm command line base, I don't have any GUI to input the account manager in.

Thanks

G'day nodiaque

I haven't tried it myself but ./boinc_cmd --help lists --acct_mgr_rpc as a command so

./boinc_cmd --acct_mgr_rpc bam.boincstats.com [username] [password]

should work (where username and password are your BAM username and password).

Hi, im trying to get BAM setup for 2 hosts running Smoothwall.

When i issue the command

./boinc_cmd --host localhost:7384 --passwd <rpc pass> --acct_mgr_rpc bam.boincstats.com tandyuk <bam pass>

The client in question gives no direct response.
But when viewing messages from a remote BoincView, the following is displayed..

Host Project Date Message
smoothwall --- 08/05/2007 12:24:05 Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
smoothwall --- 08/05/2007 12:24:04 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
smoothwall --- 08/05/2007 12:24:04 Account manager error: can't resolve hostname
smoothwall --- 08/05/2007 12:24:03 Contacting account manager at bam.boincstats.com

I have done everythign i can thnk of, including specifying bam.boincstats.com's ip in my /etc/hosts file.
From the Smoothwall i can successfully ping bam.

PING bam.boincstats.com (217.67.229.236) from <local ip> : 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from bam.boincstats.com (217.67.229.236): icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=37.4 ms
64 bytes from bam.boincstats.com (217.67.229.236): icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=22.6 ms
64 bytes from bam.boincstats.com (217.67.229.236): icmp_seq=3 ttl=55 time=27.8 ms

I have 2 machines, doing exactly the same thing.
Any suggestions?

Typical, post a question and fix it within minutes

The cause is that the boinc_cmd command must include the url as

http://bam.boincstats.com/

I changed it to that and it works straight away

Ok, now I got another problem.

It connected to bam once (since I've got job to do) but it didn't connected again since. In my bam preference, it says connect each hours (like all other computer I have). I've checked the log and it says it's using boinc general conf since there's no config set. Any idea to make it work with bam conf?
