I need to change the host name of one of my hosts. This change has already been done on my side, but BAM and the projects its attached to refuse to recognize the new name. FWIW, other computers on this account also underwent name changes, and those were properly reflected in BAM and the projects. Anyone know what might be happening?

TIA

G'day Nora

Have you rebooted that host?

Good day to you too.

Yes, host has been rebooted at least twice since name change. I thought maybe having Boinc run as service was interfering with the change, so I remove the service, rebooted and started boinc normally. This has me scratching my head. I attached to WCG recently, and host name reflected change for a while. Now its back to its old name.

Hostnames are set locally in the OS and BOINC queries the OS on startup to get the hostname, what OS is the problem host running?

Hi,

That's why it is so frustrating, maching shows up in local network with new hostname no problem. In fact, I cannot connect to it remotely using old name. The 'puter in question is a MacBook - intel Core Duo, running MacOS 10.4.9 with all recent security updates, yada yada.

Thanks

Problem is apparently not related to BAM. The alias to the file server on this machine still has old name, although when asked to show original it points to the new name. Since this shortcut belongs to the system, it's going to have to stay as is for now. No way I'm fiddling around with root at this time.

Thanks for trying to help.
