Hey,

I recently removed BOINC from a compuer & then reinstalled it. After doing this, the same computer is listed twice, and has 2 seperate BAM ID's. How do I fix this??? One of the ID's has a lot of credit, the other one, not so much as it was just created. I see it in my host list: http://www.boincstats.com/bam/host_list.php

The computer that is listed twice has as BAM ID of 42091 & 51505.
both computers have the same host name of: mktg_zpro.na.medrad.com

Help is greatly appreciated!

The only way to fix this is to delete the old host. Note that you won't loose any credit you will just loose the history for the host.

Moved the thread to the appropriate forum.

you won't loose history either, as long as it's a duplicate BAM! ID.

BAM! doesn't have anything to do with credit.

That's if you can delete the host. Some projects will not let you delete the host.

They are talking about deleting the host from BAM, not from the project.

OK, where in BAM! do I delete a host?

The hosts that I would like to delete are not listed in my Host list, but they are listed in 'Link to users host stats'.

@gadolinium - If you have the exact same computer running the same version of OS & BOINC you can reattach to each project that is showing the duplicated host. Once the host/BOINC has attached and initialized with the project then you can go to the project and under your account will be a list of the computers. Choose the older listing for the computer in question and at the bottom of the computers description page will be a link to merge the computer, click it then select the boxes for the matching computers.

Merging Duplicate Host Records

Other actions can also give rise to multiple Host IDs, including:

* Detaching and re-attaching to a Project.
* Running a new Version of the BOINC Client Software that changes the way that CPU names are identified. (cannot be merged)
* Adding a service pack update to Microsoft Windows. (cannot be merged)
* Adding an additional Operating System to the computer and using multi-boot (e.g.: Microsoft Windows and Linux).
* An update to the BIOS that changes the CPU identification. (cannot be merged)
* Extreme Over-Clocking that the CPU is mis-identified. (cannot be merged)
* Attempting to run the BOINC Client Software in Windows 2000 mode under Microsoft Windows XP
* Significant changes to the computer's hardware configuration (CPU chip, adding Physical Memory, etc.) (cannot be merged)

As you can see I have been having a few of my own issues with this and have been trying my best to clean up the issues. I did not know that the host could be duplicated until it was too late. For example, I no longer have some of the older hosts that are duplicated. My problem is I have a couple of hosts that are no longer around that ran BOINC for several projects. The hosts had a CPID in the beginning for those projects, then when I changed projects and longer krunched for those first projects my CPID changed. There is still only one host listed in the project but with an older CPID while the newer projects have the hosts newer CPID.

SO BOINCstats has listed in my Host list the same computers several times but for seperate projects while the projects only list one. That is why BOINCstats needs to have a merge host capability.

Sorry for the long rant Willy & Son Goku and thanks for the assist Zombie.

If the host is listed in your BAM hosts, select it. At the bottom of the projects table, is the link to delete it from BAM.

If you want to delete a host from the stats, that must be done at the project(s).

That is my dilemma, the hosts are not listed in my BAM! Host list. Like I said earlier some projects will not let you delete the hosts. And since I no longer have the hosts I can not log them in to update the CPID on the projects either.

Now, if I am able to delete the host (with credits) at the project I have seen where I lose those credits as well. Which has happened. Question for Willy (nice avatar btw), Since you have made it possible to sync the retired projects can it be done with a retired host? I'm talking about a host that has not had any credits posted to it in a long time frame. All I'm asking for is a way to sync the CPID with retired hosts. I am sure you are going to hear more of this in the future as we move on toward 3rd, 4th generation hosts and more people start with more computers attaching.

Thanks for the help

Can't be done as long as the host is in the XML file of a project. The updated CPID will simply be overwritten by the old one from the XML file.

I know that it can still be done by changing the CPID back after every update, with a few hosts it might even be feasible, but in the long run this will hog the host update.
