Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov (born 30 May 1934), is a Soviet cosmonaut. He is the first person to walk in space (18 March 1965).
In 1975 he commanded the Soviet half of the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz mission –Soyuz 19 – the first joint space mission between the USSR and the United States.
He is also known for his paintings on the space theme.
