It seems that since the release of BAM, BOINCstats has slowed down alot, sometimes to the point of not working.. I was wondering if this is just due to more things being done with the addition of BAM, or if there is just a problem that is being worked on. I have about 500gb of bandwidth a month that you could use if you need it. Let me know.

thanks for the kind offer, and willy may have a use for it, i'm not sure

however, from my understanding the problem isn't really bandwidth, it's server-load and DB performance
willy has had to buy another server to seperate the web and DB aspects of the site, but it's still struggling

if possibly (i can't remember) could you change the name of this thread to "website speed" or something like that, just so it's a bit more descriptive (as there's another "website" thread, but it's about web dev, and optimising the code etc.)

Hi,

First of all: thanks for the offer. But the problem is not the bandwidth, I have 250GB/month available and I'm now in the 150~175GB range. The problem is the database performance of the WWW server, or better, lack of it. The WWW server is shared with PrimeGrid, and he (Rytis) has problems with his result database which is creating time consuming queries. Combined with the high number of users and the type of queries from BOINCstats this is slowing down the site.

As Lee says, besides the WWW server there is a DB (database) server. This server runs alls the updates. When an update is finished it is pushed to the WWW. So, all content on the site (except BAM) comes from the WWW (this is the faster server for many simultaneous queries).

BAM actually gets its content from the database server, only the web pages for BAM are generated by the WWW server.

At the moment we are looking at options how to improve things and these options will most probably be hardware based (once again). PrimeGrid is already trying to raise money for more memory (http://www.primegrid.com/?donate).
