I read the F.A.Q. to see how to create a signature, but I could not find anything on adding a background to my signature. I tried to searching the forum. I need some help with this or a point in the right direction.

Backgrounds are only available with a BAM-account.
If you have one, look in the BAM menu under BOINCstats/Signatures to configure your individual one.
(furthermore this appears only if you have activated BAMs AMS functions under BAM settings)
