Hi Willy

I don't think this should be called a bug, rather a request, which is why I've posted it here.

Is it possible that the Shoutbox preview shows how the message will be truncated when it is posted? If not, perhaps a character count so that we will know if we exceed the limit? (with a reminder of how many we're allowed?).

Wow, I didn't realize I was going to post a shopping list!

Thanks for any attention you may give this not-very-important-request.

Regards from a hot South Africa
Rod

You know when you exceed the limit when you cannot type anymore. Unless you paste it in or have JS turned off, then it's truncated on post.
Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.

I think Rod means that when you finish a shout with a smiley or a BBCode tag, the number of characters used for the said item is treated as if it were a paste and therefore truncated. For example:

Code:
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

Code:
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah :elol

That's weird, I put that smiley between (code]
Code:
[/code) tags....it shouldn't have come out, should it?

Anyway, in the 2nd example, the following colon is counted as a character but is chopped because it exceeds the SB Max. Length.

Indeed, that is what I recently experienced, and have seen others experience the same thing.

But as I implied in my first thread, I don't regard it as a major issue, just a minor annoyance.

Thanks
Rod
