Please make page resolution 1024x768 as it is now too wide for many monitors.

Besides wondering why this discussion is taking place on another website instead of this one I wonder why you are making such a big deal of this now, while back in the time that I was building the new website and was asking for testers none of you stepped up and offered to test it. Back then you could have made a difference. If enough testers would have suggested other resolutions it might have just been that way.

I based the size on Google Analytics which showed me most people have a screen size sufficient for this website. None of the testers had an issue with it. So here it is.

People don't like changes, everything has to stay the same, it's comforting. However, the old website was six years old, programmed by me when I didn't know too much about building a secure and modular website. In a time where hackers invent new ways of hacking websites/servers every week I can't afford to stand still. And together with writing this new code I also upgraded the look of the site and the in some cases the way things work.

It will either grow on you or it doesn't. But don't expect a return to the old website. It would be irresponsible.

Now, maybe, just maybe, if enough people ask for it, I'll make a 1024 version. But it will be the same website as the new site, just smaller.

Could this be why certain browsers are messing with the site layout, and putting the content at the bottom of the other panes? I know it may not be as common of a resolution anymore with most laptops and many desktop monitors being a wide-screen format, I know there are still many computers/users using 1024x768; count my place of employment which has literally many thousands of computers running at that resolution across the country and abroad. I myself am still using 1024x768 on my two main desktop machines at home, and even one at 800x600 that gets some weekly use. I also have to wonder about how mobile devices such as an iPad or netbook would render the site, if there are many users on those platforms.

I personally would have been happy to help test, but over the past few months I've been away from home for work purposes and would not have been able to provide reliable, regular input.

This happens when the contents of the main part of the site doesn't fit in it's container. It should not happen, but older browsers (and especially IE in all it's versions) sometimes mess things up.

If you have an example please make a screenshot and post it together with the URL of the page and your browser + version in the bug section.

OK, I've tried using 5 different browsers, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari and IE8
Only Opera and IE8 managed to render the site correctly if you try to fit it on 1024 width, using Opera's native "Fit to width" feature or IE's built in zoom.
I tried 2 Chrome extensions, both failed, pushing the page content to the bottom of the screen.
Firefox native and "No Squint" both failed.
Safari native also failed.

BTW, I like most of the changes, it's just the page width that I don't like.

Forcing the site to resize will almost surely result in a broken lay our, unless it is (hidden from the user) changed to a image and then resized, like mobile browsers do.
