for a few forums now it says i have unread posts, but when i view the forums in question (inc all pages) there aren't any, even thou the forum index still says i have unread posts in them!

Probably because you haven't read a thread that was later deleted by moderators. Could be considered a bug, shouldn't take deleted threads into account for that.

Anything on this? I know it's a minor bug. But because I see it every time I visit, it has become very annoying. I keep clicking on forums that have no new messages.

Something just changed. Now only two threads show as new without new posts...used to be three.

Now there is only one forum with a stuck new messages icon: BOINC -> BOINC (Discuss BOINC).

Can the same fix please be applied to the last forum with this problem?

Also, the Shoutbox thread should be set to never show as unread.

Yep, for me it's similar. "Unread markers" are still shown in:
- Team invites
- Comments and suggestions
- Stats Bug Report
- BOINCstats general
- BAM! Bug Report
- BAM! General
- BOINC
- Optimized clients
- BOINCstats Cafe
- Interesting things on the web

I don't what has happened but it seems to be working great for me. For a while there the tags would still be there until I refreshed the cache. Now everything is working great.

I would still recommend that the 'Shoutbox History' thread not have a renewed taq for every shout made or make that a seperate table so that the 'BOINCstats Cafe' can be viewed only when updated.

Just a quick note to let you all know that I did not change the code for the unread posts.

The BOINC forum code/database was never designed with this type of unread posts notifier in mind, and it works not 100% (as you know).

I need a brainwave first before I can fix it.

I know from Rytis there are no plans to implement a feature like this in the official BOINC forum code (probably because it's too difficult ).

I don't understand. The feature is already implemented. It just doesn't work correctly all the time.

It's implemented at BOINCstats because I wrote it. It's not a part of the original forum code.
