Yesterday hundreds of users returned complete models without having sent any trickles before: Climate Prediction World stats

How is that possible? I thought a model times-out if there is no answer from the client for a certain time-frame? How is it possible, that all these hundreds of users return their completed models all on the same day? This smells a lot like cheating.

e.g. this user reported 62,573 credits on one day: Detailed statistics for "Ian". He has 4 hosts and ALL of them are inactive!
The same applies to this user with 2 (Inactive) clients: Detailed statistics for "tarboi"
The most extreme: This user reported 758,587 credits with 1(!) inactive client: Detailed statistics for "Willbur".
Another one is not far behind: Detailed statistics for "Fritz313" reported 724,617 credits with 2 inactive clients.

Any ideas what is going on?

Somebody decided it was a good idea to merge the CPDN credits, see this message in the Shoutbox history and others.

CPDN messed the stats up for today with somne premature decisions about stats mergers. A lot of work to be done by the stats sites because of this. They should have asked here or @BoincSynergy or @mundayweb or at any of the relevant sites beforehand.

It's ok, honest mistake, at the time of this posting the most recent Shoutbox was at 15:28 You're welcome anyway

Somebody decided it was a good idea to merge the CPDN credits, see this message in the Shoutbox history and others.

And this somebody thought it is OK to discuss this in a quick vanishing shout box. Who looks in the history of this?

It was imho absolutely not appropriate communication with such a sensitive issue by those who did it.

The day before this, I had lost about half (10,000) of my credits, according to their XML stats. BOINC Manager was not showing this loss, and the next day, their XML stats were back to showing my original, correct total.

They merged spinups quite a while ago on the order of several months, I don't know what else they could be merging that would affect my account...
