If you look at the project world cup (user and team) stats the nation flags are not shown, because filename is (empty).gif.

If you have fixed it somewhere I don't know where.

Always take caching into account after I fixed something. Check below the table of the first link you posted: "Page cached at 2009-03-20 18:35:36"

I refreshed my own cache to avoid this, not knowing the cache of the BOINCstats server is not refreshed so often.
