Is there a problem with stats for this challenge, or is it just late reporting stats?

Not a problem on this side, Docking RPC's are crooked:

http://docking.cis.udel.edu/community/team/lookup.php?format=xml&team_id=24

Empty (at the moment), should be lots of data there.

A question by MacDitch, asked on challenge shoutbox:
How come the individual (and team) stats are updating but the challenge stats don't?? Do they come from different 2010-05-25 17:17
places?

I wonder about the same thing. Can we please get an answer about this? It's kinda disappointing to have a race with 13 participians and not being able to check how we're doing.

The individual user/team stats (the "normal" stats) come from the XML exports which include all teams/users and run a couple of times per day, not suitable for challenges.

The challenge stats come from special web calls which provide realtime information, but only contain a single user/team.

Okay, but I'm still not sure why this particular challenge has no stats at all.
Even if we can't get real-time data from it, nearly four days into it there should be enough info available to give us some indication of how the 13 teams are doing? If I read Willy's reply correctly then what he seems to be saying is that unless the data is real-time the challenges won't update. Surely they should update when they update?

And they will! Just as soon as somebody writes some code to update Team Challenge stats from the DAILY UPDATE numbers ... are you volunteering to do that, or are you asking Willy to do it?

Individual challenges will be added when a few problems have been solved (like for example, if a large team participates, I have to do a web call for every single user which puts too much stress on the project server. I'm working on a update for the BOINC web code to solve that.

As for updating the challenge stats from the XML export: ask yourself how fun a challenge is with a one time per day update. Not to mention that we most probably miss the opening credit (export is some time after the start of the challenge) and we probably miss the closing credits (export is some time before the end of the challenge).

(wonder if the above will work)

Nevertheless, we've got the charts generated by one of our team members, RAD-Poland. You can see them (if the above does not work) here:

I'm interested to know how he got the data. Manual input, web scraping or another method?

Sorry for a late reply.

RAD-Poland said that the data he used for the chart and table was from the team.gz stats that are made available by the project itself (every 6 hours). The last update by the project was really close to the official challenge start, so it was pretty accurate (as a starting point RAD-Poland took the data available 10 mintues after the challenge began).

He partially agrees that this might not be the best method, but still it gives some overview on the race and was pretty good in this particular challenge.
