When I search on "Paul D. Buck" it shows all my stats with the exception of WCG.

Yet the BOINC totals show (correctly) both "Paul D. Buck" and "Paul D Buck" (in that WCG does not allow punctuation in user names.

Signature image does list WCG credits, so this is puzzling ... javascript:emoticon('', 'smid_8')

I think it's correct that when you search on 'Paul D. Buck' that 'Paul D Buck' is not found. It is NOT equal.

I don't really see a problem there.

Your combined account is matched on CPID, not on the user name, so there is no problem as well.

So either I completely misunderstand you, or this is no bug, simply something inconvenient..

Well, the only reason that there is two names is that WCG does not allow the correct one. Since the site is smart enought to know that I am the same guy by CPID, it makes sense to me that they all show up on seach for *ME* as a BOINCite ...

Well, can't force you to fix it I guess ...

Thank you for the service you provide. But, I guess it is time to stop using a site that can't tell that I am me ...

Paul,

You really got to help me out here. As I said in my previous post, I might be misunderstanding you. I tried to explain how I see it, and why I think it's not a bug.

I can't force you to use this site, but walking away so easily?

Willly,
If the combined account is matched on CPID for Paul D. Buck, then why is it that WCG does not show up under his account when you search on Paul D. Buck (every other project shows up except that one). But when you search on Paul D Buck, one only sees WCG. Both of these accounts show up in BOINCstats at the top with both nnames (Paul D. Buck/Paul D Buck).
I understand his comment that WCG does not take the dot after D.

He would like to see WCG show up under Paul D. Buck with the others (not separately).
And if the combined account (Paul D. Buck/Paul D Buck) is matched on his CPID, why is WCG not with the others?

Thanks,
Richard

The point is, you are looking for specific user (at this time, without the dot). But that specific user does not exist in WCG - human can understand that it is the same user, computers do not think themselves. There is not much you can do.

For example, I used two names for BOINC projects - ShuR and Rytis. And I do not expect Rytis to be found when I look for ShuR, and vice versa. However, I have changed all the names on all projects that had ShuR (there is quite simple way to do that, I will explain if you want). That might be possible for WCG, and maybe it allows to use the dot once changing

Hmmm, it does seem to have allowed me to CHANGE the name to Paul D. Buck

But it would not let me CREATE (or did not, like the 31 digit account key they sent me, this may have been a change too) the name.

As far as leaving, well, the only vote I have is with my feet. So, I did. Your site is useless to me if I am FORCED to use, as I had been, one name on a project that is different than on the others.

As I said, it is your site, I respect that, and, until this, had used the site for much of my statistical information. And I do understand that you do not see this as an error or problem. So, give up easily? Not really, I asked, you said no, your site is useless to me ... I left.

No hysteronics, no threats, no bombast... just a thank you and I left.

Now, after saying that, and since WCG SEEMS to have now allowed me the proper name I use, I will just as quietly and quickly come back if my data shows up on one page and the site is useful again.

Paul,
I just looked at Paul D. Buck, and there you are with all your stats including WCG.
A big welcome back!! Are these computers wonderful? ;-)

"Paul D Buck" is still out there, but with BOINC totals only.

The problem Paul had here was because BOINCstats search feature works on string search and does not take CPID into account. And when one think about it, it is quite logical, or at least seems like that to me.

Not long ago I talked to Willy in another topic ( http://www.boincstats.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=762 ) about improving search feature. (Actually, to allow users, to do search by country as well). Willy said there, that he would work on a separate 'advanced search' page for BOINCstats.
I suppose next feature to add to this whislist, is to allow search by CPID. Then such problems would not arise at all (provided, that user has synchronised CPID in all projects).

"Paul D Buck" is still out there, but with BOINC totals only.

I believe he will dissapear on next daily update

But, with the accounts not synchronized, for whatever reason, made the reason I use the site moot.

Your accounts were perfectly syncronized. They just didn't show up in the same search, but on your detailed account page all projects including WCG were present. I call that synchronized.

But, with the accounts not synchronized, for whatever reason, made the reason I use the site moot.

The originating problem was that WCG, again for whatever reason, did not allow me to use the "." during account creation. I had not thought to try to change it after creation. The suggestion above that the name was available led me to try it to prove that did not solve the issue, fortunately, again for whatever reason, you can use "." when you change your ID.

So, all my accounts are realigned and should remain that way.
