when looking at the top performers ( http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/list/0/0/0 25/5/2016 or 5/25/2016 for those in the USA) we can see "Hemmo" has clocked up 7,368,000,000 credits in one day ! I (rzyzkc) have 7 cpus dedicated to BOINC and clock about 3,500 credits per day or about 500 credits per cpu per day. Some quick math tells me Hemmo has about 14,000,000 cpu's. Am I missing something or has this guy got several power stations at his disposal ? In the top 100 there are several folks clocking a billion credits per day.

Yes, unfortunately you do.
If you would have taken a closer look you would have noticed that you're looking at the "normal" stats, which include ASICs.
A more closer look would have finally revealed that the most of the top users make their credits at Bitcoin Utopia.
And in case you don't know it - a 20 GHz ASIC earns exactly 2,4 million credits per task.

Adding to that, technology keep changing at a fast rate. Originally credite were based on the performance of a cpu. It now became a complex issue. When GPU's started they performed a taks say a hundred times faster than a cpu, now ASICS are considerd thousands of times faster than a cpu. These ASICS also costs thousands of Dollars as compared to CPU. Unfortunately at this time they are only usefull at a couple of projects, mainly at Bitcoin Utopia. The calculations might seem absurd but it was based on the same formula of comparison as was the original system used for CPU's completely skewing up the system of credits. Unless you can afford Thousands of dollars for an ASIC all I can suggest is just look at the stats that says: Combined Stats without ASICS.

Only for the latest high-end cluster mining rigs, you can get older ones on eBay for around $20.


If you're only making around 500 credits a day running 24/7, I think you have some errors or other configuration issues. I've had about four machines running (three with GPUs) and my average is around 40,000 per day right now--although that estimate is probably off a bit since that doesn't include the one GPU running Bitcoin Utopia.

But, beyond that, I wouldn't compare your performance to other too much, unless you have a lot of spare cash to burn.
