How would you tell if a paticular host is active (assuming that host shows up under "host list" in the collumn on left of page)???
(Im interested if there is another way other than seeing when it last contacted BAAM)...
"active" - meaning BOINC is running in the background - and not dissabled...

while on the above subject...Im also curious how to have BOINC running on a host -in the background- and not have it show in the task bar ( the one on the bottom right that shows some of the currently running programs)...

When you click on "Host list", it shows your hosts, right? Well, the info to the far right is exactely what you`re looking for: when they last connected to BAM!

As for the task bar, I don`t know because I never wanted it not to appear on the task bar... Have you checked the options/preferences/whateveritscalled?
I can`t tell because I`m not home right now and my aunt`s PC doesn`t have a BOINC client, lol.

You have to install BOINC as a service. Then after the installation delete the shortcut to the BOINC Manger that is in Start Menu->Programs->Start Up. Hope this helps!

Son Goku 3SSJ,
I have/had done what you stated ("delete the shortcut to the BOINC Manger that is in Start Menu->Programs->Start Up&quot...however, this didnt quite remedy the issue Im having. I believe what it did was vanqish the shortcut icon in startup, but it had no effect on the icon thats in the lower left showing that it was running. even after a reboot - (unless I missunderstood) ... again, it is that icon id like to see gone (the one thats in the lower right of the screen where the running processes are)...

The icon that is in the bottom right corner is the icon of the BOINC Manager. So if I understand you correctly you don't want the BOINC manager to run. Or perhaps you want it to run but don't want it to be shown in the area. Also from your post I don't see whether you have installed BOINC as a service?

Also just my post to be complete I want to note that "BOINC Manager" and BOINC itself are two different things. You can have BOINC running without the BOINC Manager running.
