Hi!

I just wondered how the color of a project in the pie charts is determined. For instance, the color of the SHA1 and the Sudoku projects are the same - some kind of yellow (an example can currently be seen on my stats page).

This isn't a major issue (thus I didn't report this as a bug), but it sure would be nice if every project would have a color on its own. Could this be done or is there some technical reason why this can't be done?

Thanks, Eris

Between the stats sites there is an agreement to use the same colors for the same projects on all stats sites (that is, most of them, don't know if the newest addtion adheres to this). There are now 64 projects on BOINCstats, it is inevitable that some colors will look alike. Also, when new projects are added an no color is chosen yet, then the default color is used.

Thanks for the fast answer, Willy. It's clear that some projects will have colors which look alike.

I checked again now, both projects I mentioned (SHA1 and Sudoku) have exactly the same color that is used for the "other projects" pie. If I understand you correct, this is because the stats sites didn't agree to a color yet, but eventually they'll get a unique color?

Yes, they will get a unique color.

I will make a proposition for new colors this weekend (if I can find colors that don't look too much like existing colors).

Willy,

is there a list of these colors held anywhere between the sites? I was only just informed by David Anderson that there was in fact some form of static colors kept, so I've just implemented it at free-dc.

How do you all keep this updated and would I be able to keep in the loop ?

David pointed me to http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?3

and I've implemented all of those, but many of the newer projects are missing..

Thanks

Bok

New colors are suggested in the boinc_stats mailinglist (this is not a BOINCstats mailinglist, boinc_stats@ssl.berkeley.edu).

When a new project is found anyone can suggest a new color (please do, I find it increasingly difficult to find a distinct color) to the list.

Cool, thanks. I've subscribed..

I'll see if I can get a latest list of the colors from somewhere in the archives.

Unless of course you have a list available ?
