As we've all seen the number of projects is growing strongly.

How will you manage this in your project navigation, just add them to the list in alphabetic order?
I think this may lead to losing overview.

E.g. we've made categories for the different projects, so users can easily find their project:

Perhaps something like this may also be considered by BOINCstats.

Just an idea

It's something I'm looking at at the moment.

Rytis suggested to order them on their development status.

I'm also considering creating user accounts on BOINCstats, and allowing a user to select which projects are in the menu.

Would surely be the most work to do...

We've made categories:

"astronomy & environment" -like SETI, Orbit, CPDN
"mathematics & physics" - like LHC, PrimeGrid
"biology & chemistry" - like Predictor, MalariaControl
"others" - like BURP, Hash, Lattice
"Future- & Testprojects", like LHC-Alpha, SETI-Beta and (which you won't need) projects in pre-alpha

Inside these categories the projects are ordered by:
1) productive state (prod, b-test, a-test)
2) occurance (SETI first, then CPDN...)

interesting idea, maybe letting users choose from a selection of sort orders, so they can have things their way, or have filters (which would be easier with user accounts i think) to show say only biology/protein projects that are active (2 seperate filters)

Couldn't the decision of which projects show up just be saved as a cookie? I don't know how long it would take to write or implement but I'd think it would be easier than setting up logins to do the same thing...

User accounts are already implemented, just not enabled yet.

for just which project to show then yes, but i think willy is wanting to do a lot more than that, and doing it all in cookies either isn't possible, or is more difficult, also many users have cookies disabled

overall accounts are generally a better way to go, they allow more flexibility and control, especially as things get more complex

... and more data to administrate etc.
You have to know if your server and time handles this

Time is always a problem.

The server(s) must be able to handle it. There is already a test running with the user accounts (and more).

This doesn't involve customized settings for BOINCstats yet.
