It has come to my attention that the Private Message system of BOINCstats is being used to recruit members for teams. This is a violation of the rules and invades the privacy of the members. One of the concerns about the PM system in BOINC was exactly this: spamming people with team invites.
I request you all to use the forum dedicated to team recruitment. I will monitor accounts that were complained about. If team recruitment PM's are found they will be removed.

I agree. Private messages are intended to be private and for people one has a real reason to contact, not sent indiscriminately.

I'd like to add my tuppence worth. I've not abused ( as far as recall ) the BS PM system. I respect it for what it is, a PRIVATE message service. If it is monitored, then it is no longer PRIVATE. I agree in principal, that is, a service of this sort shouldn't be used for mass messaging or spamming. But the monitoring part doesn't seem right. Couldn't a spam filter be added to this system? I tried posting our team ad. on the PS3 "Team Recruitment Thread" and it wasn't allowed. They've got a filter even on the place where it's OK to advertise teams!!

OK my tuppence has run out.

I'm not actively monitoring it, I just get a message from the system when a combination of words is found in a PM.

As this technology was developed by the CIA and generously donated to BS to prevent team spam I'm not allowed to discuss how it works or on which words it reacts. Not without them having you, well, terminated, you know.
Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.
