i was wondering if someone could answer me this
i have 2 computers running boinc, with the same projects, and they both run for the same amount of time
one is an old amd 2400 1.5 running at 2.0ghz, and it produces about 200 points per day,
the other is an pentium 4 2.8 running at 3.4ghz, and it has only been producing about 150 points per day,

shouldn't the p4 be doing getting much more points?

everything is equal

What OS?
What projects?

Some projects are quite OS and/or CPU-sensitive.

i thought all the boinc projects were equaled out, so that its fair overall

they both run on windows xp and the projects are

CPDN
Rosetta
einstein
mindmodeling
lhc
lattice
qmc
cosmology
ebahapo

Not all processors are created alike nor are all chipsets and motherboards. Have I mentioned that neither some applications run alike on different processors?

I'm sure that not everything is equal between those two systems, with the different processors being just the tip of the iceberg.

In an ideal world they would be...
But look at the Project Credit Comparsion to see the world is not ideal.

My computer gets very different c/h even with the different sub-projects of CPDN, from 26 per core and hour for HADAM to 58 per core and hour for HADSM, HADCM with 40 somewhere in the middle.

Rosetta and Lattice are not that good on my machine, Einstein was quite good under S4, now with S5 it's a bit more "equal". Cosmo has gone from beyond reasonable high to quite average in the last few month, and LHC is quite bad on my machine (if I get any work at all )

I had quite good ratings with my old AthlonXP2300 iirc, so perhaps most projects fit this CPU quite well.
