Just added a GTS 250 to my Gigabyte MA785GMT-UD2H motherboard which has an ATI HD4200 GPU on board. I was hoping to crunch with both of them but the mobo autodetects the new card and turns off the on board graphics. What should I look for in the BIOS to get the on board GPU to keep crunching? Or is it possible?

1) Yes, you should look for a BIOS update. This is always a good idea.

2) Make sure the integrated video is a model that actually supports GPU computing. Not all models do. With nVidia, the cards do or do not have CUDA. I don't have ATI cards, so I don't know about them.

3) Make sure the integrated card will be cooled enough so heat doesn't damage your motherboard. A side case fan is a good idea.

4) In the BIOS, for many models you can set integrated video to "auto detect" or "off", and there should be an "on". Look for "Integrated devices" or "integrated video".

5) Many cards will not crunch, or even turn on fully, if there is no monitor, You may have to attach a small monitor to that video port, or get a "dummy monitor" loop back plug.

6) Check the wattage of your power supply, and make sure it can support both cards simultaneously. Power supplies have an upper limit to the power they can transform.

Thanks for your reply. Turns out that what I had to do was set up the BIOS so that The on board video was the primary video and then hook up a monitor to it. Got it working now and both are crunching away.
