I recently transitioned from an old XP box running BOINC version 6.x, to a new Win 7 box and installed BOINC Windows 64-bit version 7.0.28.
On the new Win 7 box when BOINC is running there is a real problem with response times etc. - eg. clicking on folders in Win Explorer takes 3 or 4 seconds for them to open; scrolling in Win Explorer or on a web page is painfully slow and choppy. Without BOINC running there is no problem, the PC behaves normally with real time responses.
If I throttle back BOINC to what would seem to be ridiculously minimal settings the problem is reduced but it doesn't eliminate it. However, throttling it back in that way probably defeats the purpose of using BOINC at all.
Are there any recommendations as to the settings I should be using to minimise the 'disruption'?
