I simply can't express in words how this makes me feel reading this. You've done so much for the BOINC community we will all never forget you. Keep your chin up and do whatever you can do to stay comfortable. So sorry to read about this.

Dearest Sir, I am terribly sorry to hear of your diagnosis; I deeply and personally understand. I too have cancer (Multiple myeloma) for which I require weekly treatment to keep at bay. Cancer was one of the reasons I returned to BOINC after many years in hiatus - to contribute to projects that directly add to research and advancements in medicine and science.
What ever support I can provide within my humble means is available in abundance.

I stand with you.

Never stop fighting.

I'm really sorry to read this Willy. My heart goes out to you and your family.

For what i can be worth, and do what you want with this info...
When a near relative tom me died from cancer a year ago, I started to dig into the subject and I whish that I had done that before that happened ofcourse.

I found out about this guy, Professor Thomas N. Seyfried and I'm far from alone to think that he has found a alternative way to fight cancer (and this with great succes).

If you have an hour to spare you might want to listen to him here: Thomas Seyfried: Cancer: A Metabolic Disease With Metabolic Solutions. If you find it interesting you can ofcourse continue your research on your own.

Thank you for everything you have done for the Boinc Community and I really hope you can find some way/help to survive this!

Dear Willy.

It's sad news to read, with Christmas just around the corner. Hoping for a miracle that can show a better way forward.

Thank you for the work you've already done for us crunchers over the years. Hopefuly BONICstas will live on in your spirit in the future.

The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

May the crunching be with you.

I am so sorry Williy. This is not made to make you feel better, but I do understand where you are. I lost my battle with cancer. I lost my bladder, my prostate, and my hearing and balance. So I am deaf now, and its not reversible. But at least I was lucky as I most likely will not die. But like you, you never know with cancer. I have 18 computers with 1312 cores, all doing WCG or Rosetta to cure cancer. Please 20 video cards doing F@H, also to help cure cancer. I do this, as I know that it won't help me, but it might save others from cancer after I die, so MAYBE my son or grandchildren can benefit from it.

I would say good luck, but it sounds like that is over. This post was just to let you know that some others really do know how it feels to lose to cancer.

Hi Willy,

I'm very sad to read this news mate. Your stats have been everything to my BOINC crunching and without them, I'd probably move on from crunching.
Thank you for everything you have achieved through BOINC stats mate. Your commitment here has brought people together from around the world who share your mutual interest in BOINC. We are a niche breed of people but have all the best intentions for humanity by crunching what we choose.

I wish you peace Willy

F* Hell, Willy! Do not want to see you go, even though I've never seen or met you! You've done such a greate job and so helpful with BOINCstats. I fear if you do, no one will care for this place and soon after it'll be all "lighst out"

I'm so sorry about your recent diagnosis, Willy I'm sending all of my prayers, most positive energy and best thoughts your way!

You may have heard that PrimeGrid has changed their next Challenge, Dec 10-20, to "Willy's Challenge" in your honor.
This challenge involves processing numbers looking for a GFN-21 prime number during this time range.
On top of this, I would like to give your primegrid account all of the credits I accumulate during the Challenge, and the GFN-21 prime, if I find it
I also think there will be others who would like to do the same, to further honor you.
I don't know exactly how to do this, but an admin on PrimeGrid replied to my request to do this with the following:
He does have a PG account, but it's up to him if he wants to tell ppl his weak account key

I'm not sure if you want to/how you can get this info to me? Can you dm me on here? or I'm brucemoreg over on primegrid? or email me: brucemoreg@yahoo.com
If you gave it to me, I'd certainly be willing to share this with all PrimeGrid users, or could limit it to people requesting it of me?

I apologize if this is all too much -- if it is, please disregard my message.

Update: I'm sorry, Willy -- but it seems that you would also have to set default tasks for your account to GFN-21 for both the CPU and GPU, and make sure that anyone could use the CPU and whichever GPUs they have. This is under accounts (https://www.primegrid.com/home.php), then the 'primegrid preferences', then editing defaults and checking both the GFN-21 CPU and GFN-21 GPU towards the bottom of the page, plus checking, at the top of the page all the 'use...' boxes so anyone would be able to use CPUs and any GPUs they have . . .

Bad news Willy, very much respect for the way you kept us BOINC-crunchers informed. Having a hard time to find words to express my feelings. Decided to keep it simple: make the very best of the time left for you, I will remember you as a fine person.

I'm still here! I've now received medication that could inhibit the growth of the tumor, unfortunately with a laundry list of side effects, but I'm pushing through. Another CT scan at the end of next month to see if the medication is working.

I had another CT scan and blood test, and my oncologist reviewed everything. The new medication is working; the tumor hasn't grown in the last three months! My blood levels also turned out to be perfectly fine. I can continue using the medication. This gives me good courage; my life expectancy has suddenly improved significantly. This could give me many extra months.
