Looking for bright sides in all that mess, aren't we?

How about creating 'Top Banned Users' list?

Getting back to subject: I suggested my team members, they should not crunch for Predictor@home until a reasonable explanation is given by the project's staff.
Oh yes. And to vote for Cori's profile as well

Thanks a lot for your support!! I really appreciate that.

Btw: the founder of my team is definitely leading the stats being banned 9 times now.

Sure, the Bad Cat is back!

This is why I quit producing for Predictor over a year ago. Check my stats. You'll see.

Crunch for Rosetta if you want, they're only half as bad.

Adrianxw posted at P@H forum the following:
Mr Braun has acknowledged Mo's email and says he'll be looking into the problem.

"Mo" here is Maureen at CPDN. It is being investigated.

The first good news.

The "admin" has closed the thread and gave a "statement" : http://predictor.scripps.edu/forum_thread.php?id=2546&nowrap=true#13868

Predictor admin Mr Braun has just issued a long and somewhat rambling disjointed post and then locked the thread but it turned out I was also posting at the same time and my post became the last. So he then deleted mine to ensure he had the last word. In his post he gives his reason for not acting against Wate, and allthough I believe he was right not to act on heresay alone, he or the project should, like the other projects have taken the time to find out facts. Facts which now seem to be public knowledge to all but him, but I dought that will happen now as it is clear from his last post he is more determined than ever not to be seen to back down in any way.Having said that I can understand some of the reasons for his anger as some of the personal attacks on him,and I include myself in this, were uncalled for and unhelpfull and only made him dig in deeper. It's now my belief that the best way to put an end to the whole sorry mess is as I said in one of my few undeleted predictor posts, is for Wate to break his/her silence on the matter, to defend his/her position, if thats at all possible?, to offer some form of recompense? but most of all to appologise to the boinc community he/she has damaged. So if your out their Wate lets hear what you've got to say.

I also believe that D.Braun has the right not to be pushy on the Wate problem. It is not a must to lock his/her account the same day as the other projects had done it. Perhaps it would have been much better not to close the first thread, and just delete all other threads created for this problem.

I also think that both D.Braun and some BOINC users had become somewhat overreacted - D.Braun by blocking whole IP subnets, and the users by threatening him and creating multiple accounts.
After all, time has passed and I think the fire is almost out

BTW, I wouldn't count on any kind of statement/apology of Wate's side. After all you don't expect an apology from a hacker that has compromised your system

I could care less about how he handled the Wate problem. As far as he knows, it's internet Rumor.

The thing that bothers me about predictor is the wanton censorship that knows no bounds

Right now all Predictor forums require certain amount of credits to post there. Because of that as well as because of behaviour of mr Braun, BOINC@Poland team does not recommend participation in this project.

I's not only the censorship, it's his whole attitude.

He called the messengers about the trojan a mob. This includes of course by default all project admins that acted against W***.

He compared those that didn't want to get stifled with intruders in a private house, wanting to talk about the KKK, where all we did was go as old customers in a Nike-shop and asked about sweat shops. Of course he can "call the police", but he has to live with the self created image of evasiveness and with angry customers.

He closed the thread about W*** in a manner that said: "I don't want to hear about this any more, bugger off, I don't care about this." And he expected that this lonely, unexplained decision would be taken without any comment, just "because he said so."

When some of his customers/donators didn't bow to his wishes and still wanted to know what will be done in regard of W*** he simply deleted their posts, threads, banned them first for 2 weeks, then as much as possible in a unix-environment, finally he blocked whole IP-ranges from any access to the boards.

No explanation was given to anyone, in the moderation notices I recieved was written
The moderator gave this explanation to why your thread was moderated:
None Given

The only reason I could think of is of course: He doesn't like to be asked questions, I intruded his little kingdom, he gives a f*** about his donators.

I agree that one of my later banned accounts (#4 or 5) was rightfully banned, I just got frustrated and retracted to a bit of name calling. But 'til then the onla name calling was from dlb, in calling anybody who disagreed with him "the mob."

The funniest thing about his answer is of course that he wrote an email to the trojan writer and he seems to think he'll get any answer. If this is the path of action he want to take agains rogue users, he'll have none, I suspect W*** won't answer this mail. So instead of doing his job as the responsible IT-admin and have a closer look at it, do some research, he did everything not to have to do anything against his beloved cruncher W***.

And since no-one without credits can post any longer, no-one with a bit of selfrespect will crunch a WU for such a project, and the original accounts conveniently banned, he can sit in his fairy land of no discussion and pretend everything's fine.

The newest annoyance is - you only are able to post in the forum if you have enough credits. But I have found no place where this is written in the policies and rules. - The moderator is really trying to muzzle the volonteers over there.

Unbelievable... just returned home and now the mess there at P@H is even worse. Btw: Of course my RAC on my "regular" account doesn't help me a bit, because that one is blocked. *evil grin*

@Sänger: I can only agree 150% with your post!

Sadly enough, Mr. Braun has chosen to take the blue pill...

Only thing you need to do is change your email there, that will change your CPID as well (if the sig is generated by CPID)
