http://biology.polytechnique.fr/proteinsathome/

It requires a invitation code just like RieselSieve and Spinhenge@home.

Yeah, new one.
It may be usefull to put project name in thread name as well.

To what is worth, taken from my post on BoincSyngergy forum 10 days ago:
There is nothing much to expect from Protein@Home...yet.
It has a screensaver...but the rotating windows alike SETI sucks there; Rosetta is much, much better. If you click show graphics second time, you only get white screen instead of graphics.

Upload files are large. If I say large, I mean for example 20 MBs after 7.5 hours WUs. It's a very ineffecient, text file, as you can imagine (it shrinks to 4.5 MB when RARed).

And, the best at the end: CPU cycles are not reported. Protein@Home uses 2 processed (like CPDN), but BOINC monitors and report (or it instructed to) the wrong one that does the graphics parts and the one that does the job is ommited. More to it, the one that does computation gets reseted CPU time many times, resp. it gets re-run several times.

I would says that reporting CPU cycles is not present yet and other parts are still bugy. Early alpha stage so don't get disappointed if/when you get there that you got no credit for dozens of CPU cycles.

A few days ago, we had a 'heads-up' saying that the project was due to re-start.
One or two messages were posted on the message board.
Now, for the last couple of days, the server has been unreachable.
Any news from anyone here?

You don't have permission to access /proteinsathome/ on this server.

Did Protein went internal and no access from internet granted?
Or yet another bug?

Still getting the same '403' fault -
"You don't have permission to access /proteinsathome/ on this server"

Very strange because message board was open, messages posted then <blank>

Well, it seems to be more stable now and it's been contiguously on-line for a few days now. The application is just 3 days-old and maybe some of its issues have been addressed.

So, what do you have to do to get an invitation code?

TIA

Can anyone advise how to get a code for this project? I've been all over the site and can't find a way to obtain one - though it indicates that the project is still open for registration....

Short answer is there is no code at the moment it has all the testers it wants at the moment, give them time they will be ready for some more. Its a project that is taking a long time to come to the public in a usable way

And that is not a bad thing...

I have one of "those" SZTAKI work units crunching right now (about to hit three days of crunch time, may have found something, may be bad, won't know until it uploads). Also, BOINC shut down twice in the last ten days or so.

Slow and thorough alpha / beta test periods are well worth the time and effort.

BOINC core client shutting down? I know a possible cause for this! I had the same problem on Renderfarm@Home: % symbols being outputted on stderr or stdout cause BOINC to crash when the workunit is finished.

Will this be added to BAM soon? (Assuming they support BAM.)

Besides adding it to BAM, how about adding it to statistics too?

Thanks.

I don't think they are exporting XML stats yet. It's on the to do list.

And Willy waits for permission from the project admin before adding it.

Proteins@home is down again. For the last few days, they have been having validator problems. Yesterday it seemed that the validator was working again, but there was still a problem with replication. Admins and devs were noticeable by their absence. Late last night and this morning, however, the project website now has problems - '403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access /proteinsathome/ on this server.'

Does anyone have any information as to what is going on there?

Late yesterday (UTC) they released 7.14 then shortly after that 7.15 because the checksums failed on 7.14. That was about the last thing I saw on there. Uploads from BOINC are failing too.

Biohazard - please look here for more info about what is happening at Proteins@home.
Feel free to have a look at any other project threads too - you may find something of interest there!
