On International Woman's Day we remember Grace Hopper
The Rear Admiral who changed the world of computing

Once again some of the world is celebrating International Woman's Day (IWD), and it's time to reflect on great female role models. She invented the first code compiler, was pivotal in the development of COBOL, popularized the term "bug", and was so good at what she did that the US Navy couldn't let her go – recalling her twice to duty before old age did for good.

I'm with you on this one--I couldn't think of a finer role model! First time I heard of her was maybe 20 years ago (on the US show 60 Minutes. A woman who found her passion, something with the potential (at the time) to change the world, serving her country. Definitely not in it for the money. In all she was and remains a class act! To her and others of this caliber I say thanks!
