Hi.
I've seen similar questions here, but I'm not quite sure if what happened to me is the same. Could someone enlighten me?

I discovered BAM registered yesterday. Shortly after attatching a host it got detached from 3 projects. My host were attatched to LHC, Rosetta, Predictor, Seti and Einstein but in a "no new task" state for all. The first 3 disappeared (Seti and Einstein were down). Later I logged into BAM and found the project sign up page and then checked the attach box for LHC, Rosetta, Predictor for this host.
Is this normal behavior or did something go wrong in the sign-up?

Now I'm attached fine again, but the statistics in BOINC manager lost it's history for those 3 projects. That is, I only see last day (30.may.06) graph even though I have several months of activity. Is this a BAM or BOINC issue? Did the computer ID get reset somhow?

BAM should pick up the attached projects of a newly attached host on the first connection. I get very few reports that this doesn’t work, so before I do anything (that is, change code without thinking) I’d like to know who else had this problem.

Thats okay.

What do you think about the BOINC manager graphs? Why did it loose the credit history (the total is correct though).

BOINC Manager graphs are deleted when the project is detached (and this was your case).

I lost SETI and Rosetta after registrering BAM. At the first project attachment they did not succed (wrong accountname/password). After correcting this BAM is showing the project OK, but they are still missing in BOINC. I have tryed to reconnect from BONIC, but they were reset and then detach!!

Me! Twice today, the last just now.

On my "Host information" page - http://www.boincstats.com/bam/account_host.php?host_id=1945 - the "Host status" for all 4 projects is "detaching".

Checking "attach?" and "set" on both occasions has not worked - the host status reverted to "detaching" both times. It's a bugger, as all running and pre-empted tasks were lost

Think it's solved (or i found a way - on the "resources" page, "Attach by default?" was/also unchecked. Checked all and, so far, so good, am still attached to all 4 but will wait and see what the next auto update by BAM in Mngr does.

Until it becomes much easier to manage all the options, and until this users experience is made much simpler (in order to keep crunching projects), i am forced to "defect from BAM". Even BOINC Manager's experience of attaching and staying attached is so much easier that this is - 4 times in one day losing all partly-crunched tasks and its inherant time-wasting re-ataching is, i'm sure, not the norm.

However, i'm sure the bugs in this system will eventually be ironed out but, for me, this experience has been like participating in an "alpha" software experiment.

PS - and reading elsewhere where one moderator called a users question/post "stupid" has certainly NOT helped my faith in either this system or its so-called experts. Sorry, great stats regardless, but this BAM system is far from ready for general release.

Willy, I've also experienced this, however I'm attached to like 11 projects, and the only one it detached was Predictor@Home, and when I go to my Project list, it shows active there, but not listed in the big list of projects in my BOINC manager.

I tried to reattach, but it keeps detaching. I haven't spent much time investigating the details, and if I see anything out of the ordinary, I will advise, just wanted to let you know that this is not an isolated incident.

This happened with me on Predictor today. I received a message in BOINC Manager that I didn't have the url, so I detached and reattach through BOINC. But now it's gone again. When I try to reassign this project to this host through BAM, it doesn't take. I select the checkbox and select SET. But for this machine, it only comes back with two active projects (though I am running 2 others - ufluids and WCG).

Wendy

EDIT - ok, after trying for 4 times and posting the above, it now works. Hmmmm....

For everyone having a similar problem, please post the host-ID of the host where you had the problem.

I'm in trouble when attaching to SZTAKI on host 149 - selecting this project doesn't lead to attach (nor for Chess960); my other host 148 is already attached to those project without problems.
(I select projects to be attached but when I hit "Set" and page gets refreshed, it's unselected again; checked both with Opera and IE).

Any ideas?

Whats the host-ID of the system that refuses to attached. And what are the messages in the BOINC Manager?

Problematic is host 149. It doesn't go that far to BOINC Manager - the problem seem to be on BAM web-pages/database.
When I select "Attach?" column on Host list page and click Set, it get autoamtically reseted after page refresh so BOINC Manager doesn't take any action...

Update info if it helps: can't attach to any of the rest of projects on host 149.
Got 21 projects listed in BAM, 13 are attached using BAM, 4 non-BAM-supported projects attached manually.

I can't attach/detach projects on the following hosts: 2968 & 2969, I take the check marks out, hit set, and when the page refreshes, the check marks are still there... when I try to attach, I put in the check marks, click set, and when the page refreshes, the check marks are not set... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just testing setting/unsetting attach in Firefox and Explorer with your account on your hosts and it works fine. I also saw that you already set some projects for these hosts.

For what it's worth: At work I can't change any checkbox. Whenever I change a checkbox, hit set, and come back on the same page, nothing has changed. The firewall at work filters out some stuff from the header, and the checkboxes must be some of it.

Willy,

apparently, I got the same issue as Bronwyn & Grym.
I've checked with IE from other two home boxes, with Opera and IE from my main box, combination of firewall on/off in Win XP.

Only HW firewall from Zyxel on ADSL and NOD AV is common for these boxes.
I disabled both HW firewall and NOD Inet monitor - still no luck.

Attempted from another computer, completely different location, and using IE6, still no go...

The currectly attached on FC3 are from the fact that those were running when I config'd BAM.

FC5 is attached to default project only, and I cannot change it.

Checking these checkboxes is nothing fancy. A standard HTML form.

I'm not kidding when I say that is works perfectly on your account from my system.

I use a Zyxel ADSL modem configured as router and have NOD32 installed on Windows XP Pro with firewall on.

I have no idea how to debug this when I can't reproduce the error. Even more: how can I improve on the standard HTML form?

I only now if this error when I'm at work, and I know that is caused by the hardware firewall (Firebox).

It's also strange taht other hosts you try to edit do work.....

I need to think about this.

I'll try a DMZ'd machine later tonight... Right now I'm behind the Linux standard firewall, and a Netgear router at home, the other location I have no idea what the setup is, but I'll try a few things later... no time at the moment. Will let you know.

I borrowed notebook with GPRS (or whatever wireless) connection and (un)checking checkboxes worked.

So, under some circumstances, it doesn't work.
I'm quite sure nothing has change on my side and it worked before (i.e. in earlier stage of beta test).
