I have tried everything I can think of to get my BOINC clients to connect to the BAM account manager.

I always get the error message saying AMS is disabled for the account (the same message you get for an invalid username).

I go to disable the AMS function sin the BAM settings and the checkmark automatically comes back .. I can't disable or enable or anything.

Is my account FUBAR? help!

I just attached a host without any problem.

So. What client version are you using? Are these old or new hosts? Do you use your accountname + password or do you use the weak authenticator?

Also please post the contents of acct_mgr_request.xml and acct_mgr_reply.xml and make sure you remove authenticators and password hashes!

I get "AMS functions for this user account are disabled".

I tried with various versions, mostly the newest. All these are new hosts.

I can only use accountname+password b/c it says the password field requires at least 6 characters.

Does being behind a firewall or corporate network cause problems?

Bralle: you do have AMS functions disabled.

DJTachyon: from what I can see in the logs you use a wrong password, but BAM! sends the wrong error message. I added some debug code, please try again and post the contents of the files again.

I just changed my password to the same thing it was before in my BAM Profile and now it seems to be working.

Thanks for the password hint.

Oh and by the way, if you turn off AMS, the form rechecks itself but it actually turned off, you have to log off and relog in to see it.

Hi,

I get the same error message when I try to attach the second host (I could attach the first host without any problem).

I checked the checkbox of AMS functions, but it's checked (I logged out and back again, but it was still checked).
I checked my username and password but both of them are correct.

I couldn't use weak authentication neither(as described here: http://boincstats.boincstats.com/bam/instruct_attach.php) because I got the same error message (password field requires at least 6 characters).

Please help me to solve this attaching problem.

Thanks,

Peter

My successfully attached host's data are the followings:

  • Host name: Tofi-PC
  • Host CPID: 55e6c77c40b392ac57019755ccb6c6ce

My second host doesn't have any host name or CPID in BAM because I cannot attach the BOINC client on that machine to the BAM.

Hi Willy,

I'm having the same problem. Two nights ago BOINCStats was down and when it came back up there was zero hosts listed for me. Eventually, they all came back about 4 hours later, but BAM detached some of the hosts. So far, I just working on one of the ones detached. My AMS is checked/enabled. This is not the first time a host had be detached from BAM. I'm not sure of how many hosts have detached because hosts aren't all in one place. I'll get all the info for each host and list them in less than hour, hopefully.

Thanks,

Bill

Edited: Only have problem this host:

I always get the error message saying AMS is disabled for the account (the same message you get for an invalid username).

Same problem here. I updated from version 5.something to 6.something on half a dozen hosts and ever since, none of them can be attached to BAM.
I installed it on one host and then copied the BOINC directory on a USB stick which I then used to copy the BOINC program to the other hosts (that way worked just fine before). So I deleted the entire old BOINC directory and copied the new Version onto the other hosts and ever since, I can not attach any host to BAM - due to the AMS disabled message.

Edit: I noticed that my hosts at home still work fine (the ones mentioned here are at work).

I tried to add some new hosts this morning - all failed. Old host's communication with bam is working fine.

Hi,

sorry, thought hostname and CPID would be enough...

Tried it again and now some other strange error appears but I can't read it because the window is too short and i can't resize it...

I think this may be an other problem...

Hi,

sorry, thought hostname and CPID would be enough...

Tried it again and now some other strange error appears but I can't read it because the window is too short and i can't resize it...

I think this may be an other problem...

There is no error from BAM! in there. In fact, it's looking the way is should look.

OK for me now, but needed some attempts using boincview 1.5b8:

7 computer total:

3 success on 1st attempt
3 success on 2nd attempt
1 success on 3rd attempt

failure reason "ams not enabled" ...

best....
