Ok, I have this issue whenever I build a new machine or have to re-install and forget to connect to Seti manually using my case sensitive email. If I go to the Seti boards and log in with Rwarren873 it gives me the same account number as if I log in with rwarren873, however there is apparently a difference in BAM. BAM has my information as rwarren873 and if I let the BAM account manager attach to Seti the credits go to a different BAM account than if I attach manually using Rwarren873. When I attach manually using Rwarren873 the credits go to my real BAM account and when BAM attaches using rwarren873 they go to the other.

Here's what I've been able to find:

This is the information from my real BAM account -

Detailed statistics for
"rwarren873"

BOINC Cross Project IDentifier 174109c3bfbc85a9d95b49730c61a2a7
User ID 8472981

This is the information from the BAM account the credits go to when I don't sign up manually -

Detailed statistics for
"rwarren873"

BOINC Cross Project IDentifier a2c70f74505a15d8c56b700142148b35
User ID 8472988

The reason I'm bringing this up again is I forgot to attach manually after the last install and had to go through all the monkeyshines to detach from Seti, plus I'm getting this message in Boinc now (and have been for a while) -
12/02/2007 14:15:56||Contacting account manager at http://bam.boincstats.com/
12/02/2007 14:15:58||Account manager: BAM Host-ID: 77090
12/02/2007 14:15:58||Account manager contact succeeded
12/02/2007 14:15:58|SETI@home|Already attached under another account

How do I fix this without loosing my Seti credit OR pulling out what hair I have left?

Hmm? BAM has absolutely nothing to do with credits.
Not running BOINC anymore for several reasons...

You should not attach manually to projects if you are using BAM!. You should use the web site to attach.

Always use lowercase letters in your email address at all BOINC projects and BAM!.

Ok, maybe the result I notice is incorrectly applied credits, but my BoincStats credits are split between two accounts due to the issue of the two BAM accounts.

I realize that email should be all lower case, but I didn't when I first set up Boinc and that was a good while before I found this site. The only way to avoid the issue I've found is if I attach to Seti prior to setting up BAM as my account manager. I'm trying to fix it, I know it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

All communications with the projects happen with passwords based on a lower-cased email address. As far as I know the email addresses at the projects are stored lower-case. BAM! does this as well. Which means no problem here.

Futhermore, BAM! doesn't have anything to do with credit.

ANd lastly you claim a problem due to two BAM! accounts. I can't find any other account in BAM! with a part of your name in it, but if you really do have two BAM! accounts, and use them both, strange things can happen to your stats.

If you put "rwarren873" in the search box on the left menu (right underneath the "BOINC Account Manager" stuff) and hit search users you'll come up with two entries. One is listed in the US and one is listed as International. The US one is me, the International one is where my SETI credits go when I forget to attatch to SETI manually prior to telling Boinc that BAM is my account manager.

I'm not sure how you can not find that there are two, my original post gives two separate user ID numbers.

All I want is to be able to build a new machine or reinstall windows on a machine and be able to tell Boinc that BAM is my account manager and have all my credits go to the same user ID. The only difference that I can find is that when I attach to SETI manually (with "Rwarren873" as I've been doing) my credit goes to the US listed account, if I let BAM do it, it uses "rwarren873" and the SETI credits go to the international listed account. I have spoken (written) with the folks at SETI extensively and I KNOW I only have one SETI account, they tell me it's a problem here.

This can't be all that complicated to fix, but it's rather difficult to explain clearly. I PM'd you the original thread I made on this issue, I didn't want to drag up an ancient thread ( http://boincstats.com/forum/forum_thread.php?id=1649 ) and attaching to SETI by hand using "Rwarren873" was how I fixed it, and ignored it. Now I'm getting the above message in Boinc. I want to fix it instead of working around it and ignoring the problem.

Sorry I am a little slow. You have two accounts at SETI. 8472988 and 8472981 the 8472981 account seems to be the one you want. At a guess I would think you accidentally selected "create account" rather than "find account" when you connected BAM! and SETI. I am at a loss on a fix though.

We are talking about BAM!. BAM! only has one of you.

What you are refering to is the stats, which do not display BAM! information, but info provided by the projects by XML file. These are not under the control of BAM! nor BOINCstats.

Ok, I'm an idiot. I do indeed have two SETI accounts with two completely different email addresses. Thank you to the folks over at SETI for helping me figure that out.

Now, I've taken SETI off my project list here and tried to add it with the "find account" option, but that just re-attaches to the incorrect account. It doesn't give me the option to put in the correct email address.

For what it's worth, the incorrect account uses an email address I had no idea BoincStats even knew about and it's not in my Main Account page. I can't find any record of that email address (starts with kadafu, don't want to put the whole thing here) anywhere in my stuff on BAM or BoincStats.

How do I force it to let me tell it what my email address is for SETI? I've changed the user name on the incorrect SETI account so they no longer are identical. I tried uninstalling Boinc and deleting the folder so the incorrect xml file for SETI was no longer on my comptuer. I'm now running a fresh install of Boinc with no mention of SETI in the folder and the only projects I'm attached to are Rosetta, Einstein and WCG, all of which attached properly and normally using BAM as my account manager.

Nevermind, I changed the account name and email address on the bad account and it looks like the BAM is finally attaching to the correct account all by itself.
