Andy, we're a small team. 'Creative' methods are required for us to try and level the playing field

@Coleslaw, I think it's ok if a project limits the number of in progress WUs. I just meant it helped stress test the server by uploading a large number of completed WUs during the early stages of the challenge.

Naw, I'm not complaining either. I'm just relaying information in case anyone was curious as to why it is still so limited. When you have a big rig with 64 cores, it is a bit tough to even have a 1 day cache with the current settings. Most people wont notice, but the big hitters will be constantly downloading work. Makes things a bit tough and time consuming for some of them. There is also a bug that a larger cache helps fight against, but I won't discuss that here.

Interesting??? I went from 187k to 40k on the last update. Not sure if it's BStats or CCG, but someone fails addition.

Grandpa's is even worse. 600k to 6k. I guess I should count myself lucky.

It looks like Travis is fixing the credit problem that was reported in the CSG forums. DNA was grossly overpaying in credits (some say 6.5 times as much). So, these adjustments are probably to fix that problem and get things where they should have been.

Should be Equal for all. This is a stress test Challenge. Any errors found and fixed is a win.

I would say DNA is now paying far too little. Seems Credit screw gets another project ... again

DNA doesn't run too well on Linux I've found and it looks like the credit tinkering has killed the challenge stats, not updating.

I guess I just find it interesting that I lost 150k in challenge credits, but I lost none at the CSG site.

I lost at the project, but it looks like where mine should have realistically have been. I cannot speak for others on their stats. Perhaps posting in the CSG forums for better explanation of behavior. As far as challenge stats, we will have to wait and see there. I'm not sure if BS reverts scores or waits for you to catch up to previous numbers or what.

Travis just posted this on the project's main page:
"I've fixed the issue with credit totals. In one place credit was getting multiplied however with the new multi-app code it wasn't getting multiplied where actually needed. This resulted in the credit totals going down a bit for the DNA@Home credit, so I apologize for this and any confusion it might have caused. On another note, now that the DNA@Home credit is actually being displayed accurately everywhere -- what are your thoughts on the amount of credit being awarded (always a great way to stir up a can of worms)? If it is too low I'll look back into adding in a multiplier, or trying to get things working with fixed credit."

Travis has posted in the news section at CSG addressing the DNA credit and asking for thoughts on the current points value. Please address your concerns in that thread to help improve things for all. Thanks.

Is there any way for BOINCStats to go back and re-export the CSG stats for the period credit was affected and corrected?

I have PM'd Travis to see if we can get more SubsetSum work units. Server status says we are out. This way those with ARM devices can continue to participate.

Shame on them. Changing the credit rules after the game has kicked off just isn't cricket or any other fair sport. I'm new to this project but in just the second day of this project I lost a third of the credits I'd built up in the first day.

I've lost shed loads of credit, somewhere close to 300k and those of us that were top 10 in the challenge now seem to be in complete limbo. Bit of a fiasco really.

and also the lack of subset work is starting to hurt as DNA units can take up to 3/4 GB of memory each, I've now got systems crashing as they run themselves into the ground. Uploads are real slow to and starting to back up which isn't helping either.

Travis added more SubsetSum work per my request via PM. He has also found a way to do a per system limit based on application. He will try and implement that feature when he gets back from his trip. That will help larger crunchers needed to load up a cache.

Some users are getting credit updates, the majority are still dead in the water. Hope it sorts itself out before the end of the challenge. At least we are finding lots of issues for Travis to address. Nice to see an admin so hands on with his project.

Yeah, Travis is very responsive. Most admins that leave the country for business don't even acknowledge their project until they get home. He has done great. I think the people getting stats updates are the ones that have already made up the difference from what they lost. So, some people (especially those that bunkered) may have a while to catch up to their prior numbers.

I hadn't even bunkered, I had started a week early to be at full speed when the challenge began...
