All the problems of the last few weeks lead to a simple yet expensive decision: we need a new server.

After the last downtime I got a lot of donations, and I also got two Western Digital Raptors donated. I was still short about €800, so I decided to contact Rytis from Primegrid, to see if we could do something together. Primegrid was also in need of a server to host the project, and was also raising funds. We decided to join forces, and we were (and still are) short ‘only’ €400 (should you want to help out, check the donation link on the website).

I took the €400 out of my savings account (had to do a lot of smiling to Trish, my wife) and I ordered the components for the server.

Component list:
- Tyan server barebone, with nForce4 chipset and build in CD-ROM drive
- 2GB (2x 1G DDR400 memory
- AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+
- Hitachi 80GB SATA (OS) HD
- 2x WD Raptor 150GB SATA (database) in RAID-0

This server runs the updates, which are then synchronized to the www server.
