Many thanks Michal Krakowiak, the graphic designer who created it.
The logo (and icons based on it)
will soon appear on the BOINC client software
as well as the web site.

I think we are fine as it. I don't like the new BOINC logo, maybe it will grow on me though.

I really don't like the new BOINC logo and I think the current BOINCstats logo is much nicer.

Keep it the same here. I think BOINCstats should be distinct. I like both logos.

On a related note, I have long advocated spiffy banners for the different projects, as well as desktop wallpapers in different sizes. I think this would be great for the projects to be distinc from each other, and it would get the creative boinc community engaged. Some of us boincers are great with this sort of thing, as the new logos point out.

Neat. I think its nice that we have something new.

And no, I think the BOINCstats logo is fine as is. IMO, I think its better that it keeps its own style of the logo.

BOINCstats should keep this one for flavor. I don't think the new BOINC logo is that bad, and we'll all get used to it after a while. I just had my favorite sports team "modernize" a classic logo, so I'm taking it easy on all fronts.

Not easy... If BOINCstats changed the logo and you were new to BOINC, you would remember the official logo when you come here and you get the impression that this is an official BOINC site.
On the other hand's side, the current BOINCstats logo is well-known by the community, so why change it? But this argument counts for the BOINC logo, as well.
From my point of view, the old BOINC logo looks better than the new one, but BOINC changed it (they should have asked the community...), so BOINCstats should change it, too, in order to keep the impression of THE official stats site.

Maybe the letters STATS should be in the same lettertype as BINC (O intenionaly omitted) and the lines above and below INC should be extended.

And I'm also very fond of the current logo, and it has a certain brand value. On the other hand, the current logo and the old BOINC logo clearly showed the relationship between the two. New users may be confused.

I wish I could play more with the new logo to find a better solution.
But as I've not designed the BOINC logo I don't know the new font type.
And I really don't want to find out by trying my fonts collection with hundreds of free fonts... only to see I don't have the right one. *LOL*


EDIT: Found a typo which suits the one of the new logo without being the same.
Also I extended the lines as you suggested, Willy. Looks much better now!

It's Willy's decision, but I like this logo very much.

Hehe, I made a similar experience: yesterday I didn't like the new BOINC logo at all, but now I think it's really not bad. It's just completely new so that gives one a little shock at the first sight.

I like the new logo (i liked the old one as well, but the new one looks a bit better to me).

But: I would leave BOINC-Stats Logo as it is... I do see the BOINC-Stats-Logo much more often than the BOINC-Logo itself (i dont visit the BOINC-Website very often).

Hope you get the idea... :? :/

Like way cool!! About the only suggestion I would have is to put the word "stats" in the foreground of the word "boinc" and just below with some over lap. Just to see what that would look like. It would make the logo shorter looking, but I wonder if it would be any better. If you think it is worth it, see what that does. If not, I really do like the one you have. Nice job!!
